This map displays state owned Open Space parcels as an overlay layer over base map open layers provided by OpenStreetMap, USGS Topo maps provided by NJGIN and satellite imagery data provided by ESRI.

The map also allows for loading a GPX file containing geocache coordinates. With the geocaches placed on the map, it can readily be determined if they are on or close to state owned open space land or not.

The open space parcel data is provided by NJDEP and used in this map with NJDEP's permission.

The map data was developed over a period of time using a variety of sources and techniques and its accuracy varies. NJDEP has advised us "that the data is intended for planning purposes and is not to be used for describing the actual/true property boundaries". As such it should be used as a guideline for cache location only. All cache locations must be verified in the field. If the map shows the cache location is close to state land, err on the side of caution and seek the appropriate permissions from the state land manager before placing the cache.

No guarantees are made on the accuracy or completeness of the data. The state owned open space data is circa 2021 and does not reflect changes in land ownership from that time.
